Westridge Remodel

This project started with an incredible foundation: a dramatic post-and-beam interior, soaring wood ceiling, and a strong masonry hearth anchoring the main living space. The existing layout already worked well, with great volume and views, but the finishes and overall tone felt dated and heavier than the architecture deserved.

The proposed remodel focuses on amplifying what was already strong by preserving the architectural character and refreshing the home into a bright, calm, gallery-like backdrop for daily life. A restrained material palette, upgraded lighting, and integrated built-ins reduce visual clutter and elevate how the space feels and functions without changing the underlying plan.

A major transformation came from refinishing the floors and ceiling. Lightening and evening out these two dominant surfaces completely changed the “weight” of the room, making the volume feel larger, cleaner, and more intentional, while still celebrating the original structure and warmth of the home.

Key moves include:

Keep the soul, upgrade the experience: retain the dramatic structure + proportions, refresh finishes and detailing for a cleaner, more contemporary feel.

Refinished floor + ceiling: the biggest visual shift, brighter, calmer, and more expansive, while keeping warmth intact.

Function-driven built-ins: storage walls / shelving elements that add utility without visual clutter.

Indoor-outdoor living: strengthen transitions to exterior lounging and view-facing areas so the house lives bigger year-round.
